Psychoeducational Assessments

A full psychoeducational assessment includes comprehensive cognitive and educational assessments with a series of supplementary tests to accurately identify any underlying problems your child or adolescent may be experiencing with learning within a holistic framework.

This is suitable for individuals aged 6 and above to determine whether there is the potential/diagnosis for any specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia or dysgraphia (reading, spelling and writing difficulties), attention and memory difficulties (i.e. ADHD), Intellectual disability and/or Intellectual giftedness.

1st Session - Initial Clinical Interview (50 Mins)

A structured diagnostic interview to determine whether symptoms meet the diagnostic criteria for specific learning disorders.

Background history taking to determine other or concurrent causes of learning problems.

Self-report and observer (teacher / parent / partner) questionnaires to obtain collateral sources of information to support diagnoses.

ADHD assessment materials

2nd Session - Cognitive Assessment (120 Mins)

A cognitive assessment using the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC-V) or the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS-IV) to identify cognitive strengths and weaknesses and inform intervention strategies as well as the BASC-3.

Cognitive test materials

3rd Session - Learning Assessment (120-150 Mins)

A learning assessment using the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test (WIAT-III) to identify learning strengths and deficits and supplementary assessments

4th Session - Feedback Session (Up to 50 Mins)

The psychologist will prepare a comprehensive report including whether diagnostic criteria for a specific learning disorder have been met, other possible reasons for difficulties, areas of strength and weakness in cognitive and learning domains, and personalised strategies to improve symptoms.

In the feedback session, the psychologist will talk you through the report, explain the outcomes of assessment, and discuss treatment or support options
